Maison Talbooth & Le Talbooth – Luxury, Family, Foodie Essex.

It’s been a while since we visited a Milsom’s Hotel. One child later and here we are, back at one of the most successful boutique hotel group’s flagship properties, Maison Talbooth. It’s actually a stroke of luck that this luxurious country house hotel is perpetually booked throughout the summer months – it’s 12 luxurious bedrooms make it feel more like a country home than a hotel and it’s garden, cosy spa, gorgeous outdoor pool (heated to a bath-like temperature of 85 degrees all year round) and pool house complete with roaring fire and honesty bar makes the perfect backdrop to a wedding, hen party and in fact every kind of house party for the discerning.

Korsan Suites – Kalkan – Luxury Family Travel to Turkey with Simpson Travel

What people don’t think about is that a) Turkey is a huge country and you might as well be in Greece on the Dalaman peninsula’s Mediterranean coast – Fethiye is 20 Minutes ferry to Rhodes, b) what unrest there is has been has generally been concentrated around the controversial political borders or capitals and 3) even in this day and age of terrorism you are statistically more likely to be run over by a bus than caught up in any sort of attack. Be clever, be informed and don’t miss out due to ignorance. Kalkan is alive and kicking, full of happy locals and tourists alike and is as safe as the next holiday destination.

Hotel Valle dell’Erica – Luxury Sardinia Hotel with Kids

We are heading home from Sardinia. Half-term week, 7 days of bliss in true paradise at the Hotel Valle dell’ Erica. This family holiday passed by in a flash. A testament to where we were. For the first time in ages, taking the family to a hotel catering to our every need really felt like a holiday from the minute we arrived. I normally take a day or two to acclimatise to any new environment. The critic in me finds little niggles that I need to let go of before settling in but here I just couldn’t find anything.

Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow – A Game Changer!

This one I’ve been using sparingly. It’s lasted almost a year but I use cheap imitations every so often to conserve it. Every single time I use it, I get told I’m ‘glowing ‘, ‘what have I done to my skin?’This product has a cult following and no surprises why. It is the best in it’s field.

Best Family Sunscreen – Riemann P20

As a little girl, my very fair skin burnt a lot. I remember sun rashes, discomfort and even calamine baths in the South of France.  I’m sure I was slathered in sun cream but in those days SPF15 was considered high. My grandmother used to smother herself in Bergasol oil with no SPF and go a mahogany brown. No such genes passed on to me!

Hotel Kröller, Gerlos. On skis at 15 Months!

Flying home from Innsbruck from our family skiing trip, on our brand new Thomas Cook Airlines A321, I’m thankful for small mercies. Spotless plane, real service with a smile and civilised travel. Some might not associate a charter airline with such a positive outlook but then maybe this is a secret best kept to ourselves given the smooth sailing, practicality, brilliant value for money and real willingness to please of the staff – something hugely lacking in aviation these days.
