This is round two for me. Round one left me with no stretch marks and I’m hoping to keep them at bay again using a combination of tried and tested and new products! My first is one that used religiously throughout pregnancy number one. It’s made by pharma company, Novartis and has some good studies backing up efficacy – Trofolastin. Not widely available in the UK, it’s a must!
They say that your brows frame the face and that the right shape can lift the features. It’s definitely true that with the right shaping, you can open the eyes up significantly, which in turn is a very powerful anti-ageing trick. It’s been a while since I’ve had anything professional done to my eyes and being pregnant means that most options are out of bounds for now. So, in need of a beauty hit, I head to Knighsbridge to visit the queen of brows herself, Shavata, at her new, swanky, flagship salon in Beauchamp Place. Her fame runs nationwide, with a empire that started out at Harrods’ Urban retreat, now in every upmarket department store across the country and due to open her first bar abroad in Harvey Nichols, Baku in April. A successful line of brilliant products to boot, she is the go-to for brows.
I’m always after that miracle cream. I have fair, dry to sensitive skin which in my youth was nigh-on-perfect but as I’ve aged has suffered with the odd spot that has left me with some small red marks and not-so-even tone. That said, I can’t complain; I still get compliments on my complexion. I’ve made it to the hair salon! Now, I know that doesn’t seem like a feat but if you bear in mind that the last time I had my highlights done was in September then you might understand. The delay has somewhat been aided by the super skills of Michaeljohn’s Lead Signature Colorist, Debbie (Bhowmik), who places highlights so well that roots just never seem to show! She is a magician.
Kicking off my new ‘Product of the Week’ slot is a brilliant under-eye concealer which basically provides everything you need for eyes in one. I’ve always loved By Terry products as they are always multi-effective, thus saving on layering of too many products and ultimately money. Even if they do cost that little bit more; they are all worth the initial outlay.
As someone who can’t bear foundation or any sort of make-up on my face, I’m forever trying to find that miracle product to make my skin glow and mask its imperfections. I’m not asking for much am I?! My latest find is the night and day combo from Bare Minerals, the people behind the cult mineral make-up brand. Both their day and night treatment are fine mineral powders (available in four shades) comprising their Active Soil Complex which basically aids in skin regeneration by increasing cell turnover.
